A curse lies upon the land of Thebes and its ill-fated rulers Oedipus the King, Jocasta the Queen and Creon the high counselor—a curse that reiterates generation upon generation. The suffering of the people provides a battleground against which Apollo and Dionysus contend for power over the mortal realm. Playwright Kenneth Cavander, director Casey Stangl and the actors of Antaeus Company have distilled the legends of three generations into a single evening of drama, telling the story of a land and people caught in a web of pride and self-destruction.
Sacramento Comedy Festival - Sacramento Comedy Spot
The Sacramento Comedy Festival is back September 12th - 20th at The Sacramento Comedy Spot! Sac Comedy Fest is an annual event featuring stand-up, podcasts, improv, sketch comedy shows, and comedy variety shows. The 2014 Sacramento Comedy Festival will feature a competition in three categories: Stand-up, Improv, and Sketch Comedy. We will be awarding a $1000 cash prize to each of the categories. Participants in the stand-up and improv categories will be performing in a tournament. Sketch participants will perform once during the Festival. All three competitions will be judged by industry professionals.
The Sacramento Comedy Festival was created in 2011 by Brian Crall, comedian and owner of The Sacramento Comedy Spot. The Sacramento Comedy Spot features improv, sketch, stand-up, and Podcasts shows and has the most comprehensive comedy school in Northern California.
